Best Spearfishing Dive Float

Rob Allen 12Liter Hard Float with Weighted Keel and Flag

I do most of my shore diving in early and late season, when the water is cold enough that it is not worth taking the boat out. I have dove with crappy inflatable spearfishing floats for years. They inevitably leak air during the dive and turn to half inflated mush. Most of these spearfishing floats also have small dive flags that refuse to stay upright, because of a lack of ballast. This year I was able to borrow this RA float from a friend for a number of shore dives in late April and Early may. The hard polyethylene shell held up well when clambering over rocky shore line and during water entry/exits. The flag is legal size (12”x12”). The screw-in flag mount is secure while diving and easy to remove for storage. The best feature is the weighted keel, which does a great job of holding the flag upright even in high winds. The stainless steel snap-clips on either end are secure and easy handle with thick dive gloves. As usual Rob Allen makes durable and functional dive equipment, and this dive float setup is no exception. Just add a tagline and stringer and you are ready for action.
